1. The short version
Adage ("the app", "we", "us") is a daily-quotes app. We designed it to work for you without needing to know much about you:
- Adage works offline by default. Your streak, XP, favorites and reading progress are stored on your device, not on our servers — unless you choose to create an account.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we never will.
- There are no advertising networks in Adage.
- We use a small amount of privacy-respecting analytics and crash reporting to keep the app working well. On iOS, app-level tracking only happens if you allow it.
- Creating an account is optional and only exists to back up and sync your progress.
The sections below give the full detail.
2. Who we are
Adage is developed and operated by Rogo Studio ("the developer"). For any privacy question, or to exercise the rights described below, contact us at privacy@adageapp.com. Rogo Studio acts as the data controller for the limited personal data described in this policy.
3. What we collect
3.1 Data stored only on your device
By default, the following stays on your device and is never transmitted to us:
- Your chosen name, themes and followed thinkers.
- Your saved quotes ("favorites"), reading history and quiz history.
- Your streak, XP, levels and combo stats.
- Your in-app settings (theme, language, reminder preferences).
3.2 Account data (only if you create an account)
If you choose to create a free account to back up your progress, we collect and store:
- Your email address and an authentication credential, or — if you use Sign in with Apple — the identifier Apple provides (which may be a private relay email).
- A copy of the progress data listed in section 3.1, so it can sync to your other devices.
Account data is stored with our hosting provider, Supabase (see section 6).
3.3 Purchase data
If you start an Adage Premium subscription or free trial, the purchase itself is handled by Apple. Our payments provider, RevenueCat, records your subscription status and an anonymous app user identifier so the app knows whether Premium is active. We never receive or store your full payment-card details.
3.4 Analytics & diagnostic data
To understand how Adage is used and to fix problems, we collect:
- Usage events — for example, that a quiz was completed or a screen was viewed — together with a randomly generated app identifier, app version, device model, operating-system version, language and country.
- Crash and error reports — a technical description of what went wrong, including device and OS information and a diagnostic stack trace.
This data is pseudonymous: it is tied to a random identifier, not to your name. We do not collect your contacts, photos, precise location, browsing history or health data.
4. How we use data
- To provide the app's core features — your feed, library, quizzes and saved ideas.
- To back up and sync your progress across devices, if you create an account.
- To deliver the daily reminder you opted into (handled on-device via local notifications).
- To manage Adage Premium subscriptions and restore purchases.
- To measure how the app is performing, understand which features help, and prioritise improvements.
- To diagnose crashes and bugs and keep the app stable.
We do not use your data to build advertising profiles or to sell to third parties.
5. Legal bases (EEA / UK users)
Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract — to provide account, sync and subscription features you request.
- Legitimate interests — to keep the app secure, stable and improving, in a way that is proportionate and respectful of your privacy.
- Consent — for app-level tracking on iOS (via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt) and for optional analytics where consent is required. You can withdraw consent at any time in your device or app settings.
6. Service providers
We share the limited data described above only with the providers that make the app work. Each is bound to process data on our instructions:
- Apple — app distribution, Sign in with Apple, and subscription billing through the App Store.
- Supabase — secure hosting of optional account and synced-progress data.
- RevenueCat — management of subscription entitlements and restore-purchase functionality.
- PostHog — product analytics for pseudonymous usage events.
- Sentry — crash and error reporting.
Some providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where this happens, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
7. Tracking & analytics choices
On iOS, Adage will only carry out app-level tracking if you grant permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, the app continues to work fully. You can change this decision at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Analytics and crash reporting use a random identifier and never your name or email. If you would like us to delete the analytics data associated with your device identifier, contact privacy@adageapp.com.
8. Data retention
- On-device data remains until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- Account data is kept while your account is active. If you delete your account (in Settings → Account) it is removed from our systems, subject to a short period for backups to expire.
- Analytics and crash data is retained for a limited period needed for trend analysis and then deleted or aggregated.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Specifically:
- You can delete your account and synced data directly in the app, under Settings → Account → Delete account.
- You can reset all on-device data by clearing the app's data or uninstalling it.
- For any other request — including access or export — email privacy@adageapp.com and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
EEA and UK users have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority. California residents have the right to know, delete, and to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information — Adage does neither.
10. Children
Adage is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls on our hosting infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit what we collect in the first place.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of Adage after an update means you accept the revised policy.
