Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and Rogo Studio for using the Adage app. We've kept them as plain as we can.

1. Acceptance of these terms

Adage ("the app") is provided by Rogo Studio ("we", "us"). By downloading, installing or using Adage, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, to use Adage.

2. Your licence to use Adage

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to download and use Adage on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, in accordance with these terms and the App Store's Usage Rules.

3. Accounts

Adage works without an account. You may optionally create a free account to back up and sync your progress. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at hello@adageapp.com if you believe your account has been accessed without authorisation.

4. Adage Premium & billing

Adage offers an optional auto-renewing subscription, Adage Premium, which unlocks quote explanations and unlimited practice quizzes. Premium is offered on a monthly and a yearly plan.

  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
  • A subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the price for the plan you selected.
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription, and turn off auto-renew, in your device's App Store account settings after purchase.
  • Prices are shown in the app before purchase and may vary by region and over time. Any price change will be communicated as required by the App Store.

Purchases are processed by Apple. Refunds are handled under Apple's policies; we cannot process App Store refunds directly, but we're happy to help — see the Support page.

5. Free trial

Adage Premium may be offered with a 3-day free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the subscription converts to a paid plan and your Apple ID is charged automatically. You can cancel anytime during the trial in your App Store account settings and you will not be charged. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

6. Content & attribution

Adage presents quotations and biographies of historical thinkers. Quotations are drawn from public-domain compilations. Biographies are adapted from Wikipedia and are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA) licence; attribution is provided within the app under Settings → About.

We work to present this content accurately, but it is offered for general interest and reflection. It is not professional, legal, medical or psychological advice.

7. Acceptable use

When using Adage, you agree not to:

  • Copy, resell, sublicense or commercially exploit the app or its content beyond what these terms allow;
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source code, except where this restriction is prohibited by law;
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the app or its supporting infrastructure;
  • Use the app in any way that breaks applicable law or infringes the rights of others.

8. Intellectual property

The Adage name, logo, app design, interface, original written explanations, curation and software are owned by Rogo Studio and are protected by intellectual-property laws. Except for the licence granted in section 2, these terms do not transfer any rights to you. Content adapted from third-party sources remains subject to its own licence, as noted in section 6.

9. Disclaimers

Adage is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted or error-free operation. You use the app at your own discretion.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Rogo Studio will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data or profits, arising from your use of (or inability to use) Adage. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by law.

11. Termination

You may stop using Adage at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including sections 8 to 10 — will continue to apply.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Rogo Studio is established, without affecting any mandatory consumer-protection rights you enjoy in your country of residence.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app evolves. When we make material changes we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Adage after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for Adage or its content. Where these terms conflict with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions and the App Store's standard EULA, those Apple terms apply to the extent of the conflict. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them.
